Global Frameworks related to Migration provides the opportunity for Colombo Process Member States to strengthen labour migration governance. With the objective to support the Colombo Process Member States’ commitments related to these frameworks on migration, which were articulated in the Kathmandu Declaration, the Chair-in-Office of the Colombo Process convened the Consultation on the Colombo Process Engagement in the Global Frameworks related to Migration: Towards the Effective Implementation, Follow-up and Review in Bangkok on 22–23 May 2019.

Labour Attachés posted in overseas missions of Colombo Process Member States play a critical role in ensuring the welfare of migrant workers from their home countries by dealing with all employment-related matters. Their functions also cover the employment promotion and identification of job opportunities for their nationals abroad as well as protection of migrant workers from unscrupulous recruiters and employers.

Pakistan as the Chair of the Colombo Process Thematic Area Working Group (TAWG) on Remittances convened the Fourth Meeting of the TAWG on 25 July 2018 in Manila, Philippines.The meeting followed the Fourth Meeting of the TAWG on Pre-Departure Orientation and Empowerment (PDOE), which was hosted by the Philippines on the previous day, with the participation of the same representatives from all twelve Member States of the Colombo Process so as to build synergies between the two thematic areas.
